Summer is definitely here! I never thought I would ever welcome 90 degree temperatures but after the triple digit temperatures; 95 isn’t so bad.
With summer comes the 4th of July and we as a nation celebrate our Independence. But why do we celebrate? Independence Day reminds us officially of the time the 13 colonies severed ties with Great Britain and its governing body. Independence Day also represents the core of our beliefs as a nation with which we so dearly love.
Because of our love for this great nation we must recognize the state of our land. In recognizing the state of our land, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we realize the responsibility we have to pray for our nation, our nation’s leadership and all people.
As I reflect on the occurrences of the day I do not sense the Almighty God is pleased with us. Sin abounds, hatred is common and God’s Word, the Holy Bible, seems to no longer be authoritative or guarded closely to the hearts of many. Because of this I suspect God may be allowing America to have what it seemingly wants. Personally speaking I pray for our nation; I pray for the leadership of our land, I pray for the hurt so many are facing right now because of the sinful and wicked ways of some, and lastly I pray God’s will be done in and for the United States of America.
We are told in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that 14 “if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Brothers and sisters in the Lord, regardless of race, color or creed, if you share a burden for this land God has blessed us with then please pray for our nation. We need to call upon our great God and Creator; we need to call on God to do a great and mighty work.
