Hurricane Flo, you must go, and she finally has. As I drove to the church this morning I reflected back on our services yesterday. What a great day it was worshiping the Lord and celebrating our 101st Homecoming. While our numbers were off a bit due to the weather our spirits were not. Joy and thanksgiving filled the church as we worshiped. I have so many to thank so let me get started. First, thank you to Todd Dover, our Deacon Chairman, for keeping a watchful eye on the weather. As you know the forecast was less than favorable but we were spared the brunt of the storm. Thank you to Karen and each member of the choir for their hard work practicing their specials…y’all did great! Jane and Grace, thank you for your time and talents in helping lead our worship through song each Sunday. Thank you to Amy Dover for all her hard work in creating all the slides for our A/V program. By the way, a big thanks to AV Pro in Indian Trail, NC for all their hard work in installing our new audio/visual system. Alan, Robert and all the team, thank you so much for all you have done for us. Thank you, Rowdy, for your hard work in taking the lead as A/V chairman…your time and talents are much appreciated. Marty and Bonnie, thank you for your services! Your assistance in all the hookups is a blessing and thank you for the work on the new sound booth. Ken thank you for all your efforts in quickly learning the operation of the new sound board. Sometimes new equipment can be an issue but you did great. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work.
Now, a big thank you to Sandra Lucas, our Hospitality Committee chairperson, as well as to each member of the Hospitality Committee team. The Homecoming meal was the best! Sandra, the cream corn was simply delicious; it brought back childhood memories of Grandma Beam’s corn; so good! Thank you to each person who prepared a covered dish. Trust me it was all good, I know because I had some of it all!
There are so many to thank for such a great day in the Lord I sincerely hope I have not left anyone out because it takes each and everyone of us. I consider it a blessing to serve the Lord here at South Marietta Street Baptist Church; you are all wonderful, loving and kind. I want to thank the Lord for each of you; for all that you have done and all that you continue to do.
We have a wonderful church family here so if you are looking for a church home I want to invite you to visit with us.
I hope to see you Sunday!
