A Time of Renewal

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

When winter begins to fade and spring begins to come our way I get excited.  I was driving into the office the other morning and my thoughts turned quickly to a time of praise and thanksgiving.  I noticed the pastures were green.  I noticed the trees were budding and the daffodils were bursting forth.  I also noticed my blue Jeep was a lovely shade of yellow!  In spite of the pollen, congestion, and watery eyes, I love spring.  I love the thoughts of being outside and enjoying God’s creation.  I love the thoughts of working in the yard and tending my garden.  The killing frosts are almost behind us and new growth and life is ahead of us.  To me spring is as if God is saying, “Let’s do it again.”  To me, spring is as if God is giving us another opportunity to seek Him and His will for our lives.  Since spring is a time of renewal I wonder: could it be a time for you to renew your relationship with God?  As Christian men and women we face many difficulties in life and these things challenge the best of us.  Sometimes these difficulties are so overwhelming that we forget the presence and power of God that is in us by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  Christian you are not alone; in fact you are never alone!  Perhaps you have allowed life to distract you so much that you forgot the awesome gift Jesus asked the Father to send us, the gift of God the Holy Spirit.  Turn to Him and ask Him to give you guidance, help, and a time of renewal.

Perhaps you know someone who does not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.  This person surely needs a time of renewal; this person needs Jesus to make them into a new creation.  Why not identify that person, pray for that person and when the Lord opens the door of opportunity tell him or her what Jesus has done for you.  Let this spring also be a time of renewal for them!
